About postal payment services
The UPU contributes to the development of the worldwide electronic postal payment network by simplifying operational procedures and reciprocal regulations and by producing appropriate standards.
A new treaty
A new treaty promoting a worldwide electronic postal payment network was signed at the UPU’s 2008 Congress. As of 1 January 2010, 115 member countries of the UPU are already party to this treaty.
Actions are undertaken to enable the postal network to provide account based financial services which aim, in particular, to facilitate financial inclusion in rural areas.
