| The visual identity is inspired by the UPU monument, located in the Kleine Schanze Park in Berne. The work of French sculptor René de Saint-Marceaux celebrated its centenary in October 2009. |

| The visual identity is composed of the UPU emblem – the central image of the monument showing five messengers passing letters around a globe – and the United Nations laurel leaves surrounding it. This universal symbol for peace was added in 2007 to better reflect our organization’s status as a specialized agency of the United Nations. |

| Permission to use the UPU emblem or full logo must be obtained by the Communications Programme by filling out the form entitled “Request to use the logotype”. |
