In its quest to promote the development of philately worldwide, the WADP conducts philatelic training activities tailored to the needs of UPU member countries. These training courses are based on the contents of The Guide for the Development of Philately.

WADP Numbering System (WNS)

Developed by the UPU and the World Association for the Development of Philately, the WADP Numbering System (WNS) was introduced on 1 January 2002 with the aim of creating a database of all legal postage stamps issued by UPU member countries and territories on or after that date. The goal is for the WNS to become the central point of reference against which stamp issues can be verified, supporting the legal philatelic market by publicizing those stamps that are genuine. Only those postage stamps that have been received by the International Bureau of the UPU and whose authenticity has been confirmed will be assigned a unique WNS number and added to the WNS website, which is published in English and French. The WNS website is therefore a reference tool and a control, by omission, of stamps that have been issued illegally and labels that are claimed to be stamps. The WNS is one of the tools the UPU has introduced, helping the Posts and the philatelic market as a whole to combat this problem. Your feedback interests us - email the WADP Contacts. |

The UPU's Philatelic Code of Ethics is a recognised code of practice for postal administrations regarding the issuing of postage stamps and products.
