Message from the CC Chair

Walter Trezek, Chair of the UPU Consultative Committee “Digitalization facilitates partnerships. Even the largest companies and Posts cannot do it by themselves.

The new UPU Consultative Committee structure is about direct communication and dialogue, but also about interconnectivity and integration of private partners and their solutions into the existing global IT backbone of the UPU.

It is about shaping the digital future of the sector together.”

 HIGHLIGHTS (February/March) – SAPOA annual meeting (28 February–1 March 2024) and SIDS Postal Forum (5–7 March 2024)

The CC Secretary, Alexander Thern-Svanberg, had the opportunity to introduce the postal prosperity zones model on day 2 (Strategy Day), and to network with several stakeholders, including private companies (such as Software Group and Africawide) that are particularly active in the Southern African region.

The month of March was busy for the Consultative Committee, as it attended two important postal sector events. It first attended the Southern African Postal Operators Association (SAPOA) annual meeting in Gaborone, Botswana, from 28 February to 1 March 2024. The event was a success for the CC, with two of the members attending – logistics-natives and MyDutyCollect – signing memoranda of understanding with SAPOA. Escher Group and Ship2myId were also present.

It then participated in the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Postal Forum in Seychelles from 5 to 7 March 2024, during which Ship2MyID concluded an agreement with Seychelles Postal Services (SPS). An article featuring Ship2MyID’s future partnership was published in the newspaper “TODAY in Seychelles” and can be found here.
