Overview
The World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) was created in 1997. During the Istanbul cycle (2017–2020), the WADP has operated under the Postal Operations Council (POC), more specifically as part of Committee 3 (Markets Development and E-Services).
The principal aim of the WADP is to develop and promote philately through continuous and positive dialogue between partners in the philatelic sector and designated operators. Its objectives are to:
- Maintain collaboration and development between the UPU, designated operators, philatelic partners and the industry;
- Monitor market trends and issues that will have an impact on the philatelic business;
- Analyze and disseminate all information relating to the sector;
- Improve knowledge of philatelic markets among designated operators;
- Encourage and facilitate the adoption of best practices.

19th UPU Competition Class
Discover the collections created by Posts participating in the 19th UPU Competition Class!
Since 2008, the UPU International Bureau and the International Federation of Philately (FIP) have held international competition classes for issuing postal authorities of UPU member countries and their territories.
These competition classes, held during regional and international philatelic exhibitions, give issuing postal authorities the opportunity to promote their issues in an enjoyable competition that is recognized by the highest philatelic authorities.
During these competitions, the UPU tries to provide opportunities for exhibition visitors to purchase participants’ philatelic products, through QR codes linked to the WADP World Numbering System (WNS) and the e-shop of each designated operator displayed next to the exhibition frames.
Conferences and round tables
Part of the WADP’s work is to regularly organize conferences and round tables for designated operators. The aim is to provide an opportunity for participants to exchange their experiences and hear about technical and marketing innovations from philatelic industry players and collectors.
These events are led by industry experts and professionals, responding to both current and future challenges facing the sector. The conferences and round tables are open to the public.

WNS
The WNS is a register of all official postage stamps issued by its members created in 2002 by UPU, WADP and its partners. It is the only system that provides collectors with a guarantee that a given stamp is official.
WNS can therefore serve as a powerful tool to support your marketing strategy, and will help you reach your sales target.
