Marjan Osvald – Deputy Director General, UPU International Bureau
Elected Deputy Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) at the 27th Congress in Abidjan in 2021, Marjan Osvald leads global postal development, policy coordination, and major reform initiatives. He brings over 28 years’ experience in international postal operations, strategy and sales.
He chairs the UPU's Oversight Advisory Committee, the Provident Scheme Investment Committee, the Internal Procurement Working Group, the IT Steering Committee, and the Cooperation Agreement Steering Committee with International Post Corporation. He also represents the UPU at the UN High-Level Committee on Management and the UN Oversight Advisory Committees Network.
Previously, Mr Osvald served as Senior Adviser to the Executive Management of Slovenia Post, following 12 years as International Mail Director, where he oversaw international postal and logistics operations, customs, accounting, sales, business development, and project management. His involvement with the UPU began at the Beijing Congress in 1999.
Aged 56, Mr Osvald has three children.
