19.12.2025 — 19 December (Berne, Switzerland) – UNI Global Union and the Universal Postal Union have signed a new cooperation agreement which will see the two organizations work more closely together to strengthen ties between workers and employers and safeguard the future of the global postal sector.

15.12.2025 — 15 December (Berne, Switzerland) – Since its introduction on 1 October 1907, the international reply coupon (IRC) has accompanied generations of correspondents, travellers and collectors across the world. Serving as a truly universal paper currency, it enables the holder to pay for postage of an unregistered international airmail letter between the UPU’s 192 member countries.

10.10.2025 — 10 October (Berne, Switzerland) – Following the UPU’s press release of 6 September, the latest UPU data on postal flows shows that the negative impact on volumes to the United States of America remains significant, five weeks after the US suspension of the duty-free de minimis exemption on 29 August.

19.09.2025 — Dubai, 19 September 2025 – Reyyan Demiriz, a 15-year-old girl from Türkiye, has taken first prize in the 54th International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People, organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This year’s competition received more than 1.6 million letters from 65 countries.

19.09.2025 — The UPU’s 28th Universal Postal Congress closed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, today, providing the UN specialized agency with the mandate and resources needed to drive the transformation of the postal network over the next four years.

18.09.2025 — 18 September 2025, Dubai – Japan’s Masahiko Metoki has been re-elected as Director General of the UN specialized agency responsible for international postal cooperation and development, while Slovenia’s Marjan Osvald has been re-elected as its Deputy Director General for the next four years.  

08.09.2025 — 8 September (Dubai) – The Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) State of the Postal Sector 2025 lays bare the most pressing challenges facing the growth of the global postal network, which has seen postal sector growth lag by as much as 71% behind global economic growth, between 2006 and 2023.

08.09.2025 — 8 September (Dubai) – The Universal Postal Union (UPU) – the United Nations specialized agency responsible for coordinating and developing international postal services – opened its 28th Universal Postal Congress in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, today.

06.09.2025 — 6 September (Berne, Switzerland) – The Universal Postal Union (UPU) – the UN specialized agency for global postal cooperation – has started deploying a solution to help postal operators resume delivery to the United States after postal traffic to the country dipped more than 80% following its suspension of the duty-free de minimis exemption, effective 29 August.
