This module explains how to configure Electronic Advance Data (EAD) response statuses, warnings and rules in the International Postal System (IPS) to improve compliance and support operational decisions.
This second part of the EAD status checks series in IPS explains how IPS interprets EAD response statuses and how to configure rules that notify users when customs or security issues are detected.
This module covers how to define warnings, alerts and operational restrictions based on EAD response statuses, customise notification messages, and manage EAD status check rules to support efficient mail processing and compliance with international requirements.

This module introduces the EAD response statuses used by IPS. These include missing or incomplete ITMATT (item-level customs data message) data, unresponded referrals — that is, error (ERR), incomplete (INC), request for information (RFI) and request for further information (RFS) statuses, Do Not Load (DNL) messages and missing assessment confirmation (ASC) messages, and situations where no EAD data is available.
The video shows how to configure warnings for each response status, assign background colours, define custom notification messages and block operations when required. It also explains how to configure optional audio alerts, search for existing rules, and edit or copy rule configurations. Users can manage custom EAD status check rules alongside the default fallback rule that IPS provides.
The module also highlights where EAD status checks are applied within IPS, including mail reception, dispatch creation and closure, and consignment processing. This helps designated operators automate compliance controls and improve operational efficiency.
