Berne and UPU International Bureau (IB)

Each year, the race attracts more than 14,000 women from all corners of Switzerland, serving as a vibrant testament to athletic solidarity and empowerment. The race is accessible to all women, with routes ranging from a 3 km walk to a 10 km run, winding through the city of Berne within a relaxed and festive atmosphere.

In tandem with the race, the UPU will organize a series of engaging activities to ensure an enriching experience for participants wishing to learn more about the organization. This will include a UPU booth at the sponsors’ and partners’ village (at Bärenplatz, near the Federal Palace) to present the UPU and its activities from a gender equity perspective. A competition will be held under the same theme with attractive prizes for participants.

A conference on running (covering the basics and running technique) and a training session will be held at the UPU's International Bureau on 7 May 2024 from 16.30 to 18.30, hosted by Markus Ryffel, a Swiss former long-distance runner. Markus won the silver medal in the 5,000 metres at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. The session is open to all race participants and IB staff. More details will follow soon.

All female UPU staff are invited to take part in the competition. The registration fee will be paid and a commemorative T-shirt provided for all IB participants. For those interetested in taking part, please register through the link on top of the page.

The UPU's participation is aimed at enhancing the organization's positive and dynamic image, while fostering openness and forging connections with the people of Berne and Switzerland.
