Background
Postal networks are powerful vectors for financial inclusion, addressing issues of accessibility, affordability and trust. Across the world, more than 1.5 billion people, or approximately 28% of the adult population, access financial services through postal channels. The UPU believes that scaling inclusive insurance through the postal network can be achieved through collaborative partnerships with private sector insurers. This approach can expand postal customers’ access to a wider choice of insurance options, particularly in rural and remote communities where many underserved customers reside.
