Journalists invited to cover the Universal Postal Union’s 145th Anniversary and World Post Day at its Berne headquarters on 9 October.

  • 11:00 a.m.: Prize for the Universal Postal Union’s International Letter-Writing Competition.
  • Noon: Prizes for the winners of the annual ranking of the world’s postal operators (also known as 2IPD).
World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October and brings awareness to the Post's role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development. The UPU's Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD) provides an overview of postal development around the globe. The results for 2019 cover 172 countries and reveal the relative performance of Posts around the world, shedding light on how to foster postal development and maximize the efficiency of postal infrastructure. *** The Universal Postal Union is a UN specialized agency with its headquarters in the Swiss capital Berne.
